Coleus Forskohlii
Coleus forskohlii is a perennial shrub
native to India and E Africa. It is a long-lived
vigorous growing member of the Mint (Lamiaceae)
family producing upright racemes of blue/purple
flowers.
For colder climates, this plant does well in
pots and can be grown outdoors during the summer
and indoors in the winter. If you've grown
decorative coleus, you will do very well with
coleus forskohlii.
The roots of the plant are the source of an
anabolic compound known as forskolin, which has
profound effects on the human body. The effects
are many, including inhibition of blood platelet
aggregation combined with increasing force of
heart contraction while relaxing the arterial
tension, which means that the herb is great for
cardiovascular health and is likely to diminish
the threat of heart attack and the potential of
damage from blood clots.
People suffering from asthma, allergies,
cancer, glaucoma, depression, psoriasis,
hypertension and obesity may find that the
Coleus forskohlii root extract does much to
mitigate these conditions.
